Our thoughtful, loving and inspiring family member and friend, Mickey Ryan Kehl, a.k.a. “Bubs Kehl” “Uncle Monkey,” passed away at 9:34a.m. on April 25th in the St. Francis Hospice Home from residual kidney and heart disease. Mickey was born in Indianapolis October 24, 1965, to the late Karen Lee Eyster and Martin VanBuren “Bud” Kehl. In 1984, he graduated from Roncalli High School where he captured audiences with his beautiful voice during plays and musicals. He also was on the Freshman basketball team that were city champs!!! (19-0) Later, he attended Vincennes University. Prior to disability from Polycystic Kidney Disease, he worked at Trans City/Logisco in Plainfield, IN, Sam’s Distribution Center in Indianapolis, IN, an avid D.J, and a bartender.
Mickey enjoyed reading and found his happiness being with his family and friends. Children loved him, many of whom called him “Uncle Monkey.” He never met a stranger and made friends of all walks of life. As such, he made a difference in many lives as he was an inspiring example to many enduring dialysis three days a week and those recovering from alcohol and drug abuse.
Family wishes to thank all of those who visited and celebrated the last memorable days with Mickey. They also thank those who have donated to his funeral arrangement care.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, Karen Lee Eyster, Martin VanBuren “Bud” Kehl, and Edward Eyster Sr; and step-brother, Edward Eyster Jr. He is survived by: son Quinten Roach, brother; Frederick T. I went to Nativity and Roncalli with Mickey and had a huge crush on him as a young girl. The many comments and sentiments I have seen over the past several days are true testimony of his loving, friendly nature. He will truly be missed. Job well done, my old friend. May you rest in eternal peace. And please tell Duffy I said “Hello.” #NativityDevils
